Losing weight is tricky now that I'm older. I used to be able to not only lose weight but maintain a rather petite 124 pounds. Of course, at that time I was jogging 2 or 3 miles 4 or 5 times a week. With that much exercise I was able to eat anything I wanted (including beloved chocolate) and any amount I wanted (again including chocolate).
Now, I'm lucky if I lose 5 pounds and maintain it. The last time I lost weight was about a year ago - nine pounds in six weeks. I was quite pleased and maintained it for a couple of days until my husband went hunting one weekend and I chowed down on chocolate while he was gone. I don't know if I was lonely or just stupid; nevertheless back came the nine pounds plus a few more to boot.
My metabolism is so low that even when I don't eat sweets and seriously cut down on the other carbs, I may lose 5 or 6 pounds if I'm lucky. Granted I'm not jogging anymore (my hips and knees prohibit it), but really with all those carbs and calories being painfully reduced, wouldn't you think I'd lose more than that?!
It isn't fair. It's a trick, I tell ya!
