Sorry yet, Mr. Bowlen?

I began watching football about twenty-five years ago when my new husband turned on the TV to watch a Bronco game. I was studying at the time and pretty much ignored the noise until I glanced at the players scrambling around and saw John Elway poised to throw. He held onto the ball for so long that I asked my husband if he was ever going to get rid of it. Well, of course, he did and from then on I was a fan of both football and Elway.

The Elway era spoiled Bronco fans and Mike Shanahan's tactical coaching skills contributed to that spoilage. Entertaining to watch, executing two consecutive Super Bowl wins, and just plain great, the Broncos and their fans had it made. The team could do no wrong.

Until Pat Bowlen decided to get rid of Shanahan. Now, I'll admit after Elway retired, the games weren't as exciting and the Super Bowl eluded the team, but really did he have to get rid of the Mastermind?! This season the team is 2-7. That's right: two wins out of nine games. Two!! I'm thinking Bowlen may now regret hiring a newbie coach who stands on the sidelines literally chewing his fingernails while watching his team disintegrate before his eyes not to mention the eyes of thousands of disgruntled fans.

Sorry yet, Mr. Bowlen?
